| William Luther Payne, Jr., 57, of Amissville died peacefully at home Sunday, August 8, 2010, following a long battle with cancer. Bill was an auctioneer, a vocation he loved, and a founder of Piedmont Softball Association in Amissville. He, along with his wife, Mauri, bred World-quality Appaloosa horses for the last 30+ years. He is survived by his wife; his son, Christopher; daughter, Megan, and a very special grandson, Marcus, all of Amissville. He is also survived by his parents, William L. (Red) Payne and Mary Miller Latham Payne, again of Amissville. A memorial service was held Wednesday August 11 at Amissville Baptist Church. |
